Local government is the backbone of every community, and the people who serve in it deserve technology that genuinely supports their work.
So we build it with people who have done the job. Every GovOwl account manager is a former government official. They’ve run government programs, sat through the budget meetings, and lived the paperwork. That experience shapes how we design our systems and how we support the agencies we serve.
We launched in California in 2011. Our first environmental health product shipped in 2013, one simple mobile app for food inspections. That app grew into a full environmental health system, handling everything from permitting and inspections to code enforcement, citizen portals, and online payments. Agencies kept asking us to do more, and we kept saying yes, expanding across departments and automating workflows agency-wide.
Eventually we outgrew our own name. Inspect2GO was where we began, but we had become something larger, so we became GovOwl: a govtech firm modernizing cities and counties. Today we operate under both names, with a 98% retention rate and government clients in 11 states.
